Three HNRK Partners Named Lawdragon 500 Leading Corporate Employment Lawyers

Hoguet Newman Regal & Kenney, LLP partners Damian Cavaleri, Helene Hechtkopf, and Amory McAndrew have been recognized in the 2025 Lawdragon 500 Leading Corporate Employment Lawyers guide. The annual list highlights the top attorneys specializing in employment litigation, trade secret defense, discrimination cases, and various other claims.

Damian represents clients in all capacities and litigates and arbitrates a wide breadth of business and employment-related disputes. He handles all aspects of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeal, and has litigated in federal and state courts in New York. He also counsels clients regarding employment agreements, employment separation agreements, and non-competition restrictions and covenants. Among other honors, Damian has been named an Employment Law Trailblazer (2020) and a Litigation Trailblazer (2023) by The National Law Journal and a Labor & Employment Star by Benchmark Litigation. He has also been a sought-after source for the media on the implications of the FTC’s ban on noncompete agreements for employers, and the legal battles that have ensued from the proposed ban.

Helene focuses her practice on a wide range of litigation, including commercial, employment, and construction. She has defended employment cases under a variety of state and federal statutes, and her expertise spans race and gender discrimination, disability discrimination, and whistleblower laws. She has represented public and private entities from the start of a case through trial, including first chairing both bench and jury trials, and appeals in both New York State and federal court. Helene serves as HNRK’s diversity chair and was named a Rising Star by the New York Law Journal, a Woman Worth Watching by Profiles in Diversity Journal, and is recognized on Benchmark Litigation’s 40 & Under List.

An employment lawyer and commercial litigator, Amory advises employers and executives on all aspects of the employment relationship. She counsels clients on best practices in connection with the full spectrum of employment issues, including: drafting handbooks; hiring and termination procedures; complying with wage-and-hour laws; granting accommodations under the ADA; and minimizing discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims. Her clients vary in size from large businesses to startups, and span the retail, fashion, and technology industries. She also frequently represents executives in negotiating employment and separation agreements, and was a pioneer in helping clients develop clear COVID-19 policies that avoid discrimination claims and costly litigation. Amory was recently named to Crain’s New York Business’ Notable Women in Law list.
