Dorothea Regal Named an Elite Boutique Trailblazer by The National Law Journal
Hoguet Newman Regal & Kenney, LLP founding partner Dorothea Regal has been recognized as one of only 29 Elite Boutique Trailblazers by The National Law Journal. Her profile is available here.
As a founding partner of HNRK and head of its insurance recovery practice, Dorothea has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for policyholders. She is regularly sought out for complex and valuable insurance coverage disputes, spanning environmental, asbestos, property, business interruption, products liability, and directors and officers liability claims. She has prevailed for corporate policyholders large and small in contexts ranging from environmental Superfund liabilities and industrial disasters to nationwide products liability claims.
In one recent matter, Dorothea represented a herbicide manufacturer against more than 50 insurance companies in a $170 million case. Her team defeated multiple summary judgment motions, winning a groundbreaking ruling under New York law that the client’s useful herbicide product is not a pollutant.
Dorothea is also a champion of women. She has been instrumental in maintaining the firm’s status as a certified women-owned law firm and in establishing the firm’s women-friendly policy of flexible hours and work locations, creating an environment where the firm’s women attorneys can maintain a thriving work-life balance. She is also active in the Women’s Leadership Circle of Brooklyn Law School and the Women in Insurance Network.
Dorothea is the second HNRK attorney to be recognized in The National Law Journal’s Trailblazers series. Earlier this year, HNRK partner John Kenney was named a Litigation Trailblazer.
