As a women-owned boutique based exclusively in New York, HNRK is a unique place to work. What drew you to the firm?
I was approached by the firm, and after my initial interview, I knew I wanted to be a part of HNRK due to its relatively small size, location in the middle of NYC, impressive attorneys and professional work environment, and the opportunity for me to grow in my position.
What inspired you to pursue a career in law?
I’ve been interested in law my entire life. It embraces my very competitive nature. I accepted a position at a large firm right out of college as a legal assistant. I was fortunate to be trained well by a partner of a firm who saw my potential. I developed my skills and continued to take on more responsibilities. Before long, I was being relied upon to help associates and partners with New York State and Federal procedures, filing and service requirements, document review, drafting legal documents, and other attorney-level tasks.
I found a true interest in attorney support because of the value I brought while still having a life/work balance that I wanted. I realized that I could make a good life for myself if I became really good at the craft of anticipating and supporting attorneys’ needs.
What is the most rewarding part of your job as a paralegal?
The most rewarding part of my job as a paralegal is assisting and impressing attorneys in challenging situations.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Outside of work, you can catch me watching sports, attending TOOL concerts, hiking with my pups, Brownie and Shadow, and capturing scenic photography of this beautiful rock we call Earth.
What is one thing you cannot live without and why?
Outside of my family, friends, and pups: the New York Yankees and Diet Coke.
